G.A.C. will effectively remove these but only if the flow rate is reduced to provide a contact of 4-5 minutes. Further contamination can arise from the condition of the pipe your water has passed though to get from the water treatment works to your pond, These contaminants include, lead, iron, aluminium, cadmium to name but a few. These materials grouped together as heavy metal can cause serious damage to the fish in your pond. Ideally you should, before first filling your pond obtain a water report from your water supplier. This will enable us to reccommend the correct filter system for the water for your pond. This is the ideal but it is not unknown for the contaminants in your water to change during the course of a year, due to repair work, diverted water supplies. Chlorine and Chlorimine will allways be in the water supplied to you. Chlorine you can gas off some of it. Chlorimine is more persistant and requires filtering out.
