Domestic water supplies are now dosed at the treatment works with an excess of chlorine and chloramine to fight any possible bacterial infestation within the supply system. Ideal for human consumption, not so for your koi.
Any residual Chlorine and particularly Chloramine in the water used to top up or first fill your pond may then cause serious harm to the fish in your pond and should be removed.
This can be achieved by passing the water through a bed of Granular Activated Carbon, (G.A.C.) during a contact period of one minute.
