Domestic water supplies are now dosed at the treatment works with an excess of chlorine and chloramine to fight any possible bacterial infestation within the supply system. Ideal for human consumption, not so for your koi.
Any residual Chlorine and particularly Chloramine in the water used to top up or first fill your pond may then cause serious harm to the fish in your pond and must be removed.
This can be achieved by passing the water through a bed of Activated Carbon, at a typical flow rate of 1 gpm. Higher flow rates are possible but care must be taken with the type and size of the filter cartridges and their housings.
Heavy metals can also get into the water supply, some leeching from old pipework e.g. lead. Specialist Cartridges are available for Heavy metal removal.

It is Reccommended that a Water Analysis Report is obtained from your water supplier which they are obliged to send you on request. If you send us one we will advise you on the best course of to take regarding tap water filtration for your koi pond. There is a charge of £25 for this service which will be refunded if a reccommended filter/filters is/are purchased.

Water Purifier 10inch Clear Housing - ¾" Threads

10" Clear housings are usually used in conjunction with the prefilter WPU-112.. Being Clear a visual assessment of the sediment in the tap Water can be assessed. The Filter Housing comes with ¾" Female Threads. Using the ¾" x ¾" Male Thread Adaptor WPU-190 any number of Filter Housings can be joined together.

Please Note :- The Clear Housing is not as tough as the Blue Housings and is more prone to Damage particularly in Freezing Conditions. It is reccommended that in Winter Months the Filter Housing should be emptied of water.

10" Blue housings are usually used in conjunction with the Carbon Cartridge WPU-113 or other Types of Cartridge eg Heavy Metal Removal Cartridges. The Filter Housing comes with ¾" Female Threads. Using the ¾" x ¾" Male Thread Adaptor WPU-190 any number of Filter Housings can be joined together.

Please Note :- Whilst the Blue Housings are tougher they are still prone to Damage particularly in Freezing Conditions. It is reccommended that in Winter Months the Filter Housing should be emptied of water.
